When the small town of Trinidad, Colorado woke up on a Thursday morning, no one expected the mail to contain the following:
“Ranked #1 by Business Rate.”
The article was about a company called Big Bubba’s Towing LLC, a small, hardworking business that had started with a couple trucks, a few tools, and a lot of determination. What made the story remarkable wasn’t the ranking itself, it was the journey behind it.
Years earlier, the owner had started the business with a simple philosophy: treating people right and work harder than anyone else. There were long days, late nights, and more than a few challenges. Equipment broke down, storms delayed jobs, and sometimes the work seemed endless. But every customer was treated with honesty and respect.
Instead of focusing only on profits, the company focused on service, integrity, and community. When a neighbor needed help after a storm, they showed up. When a customer had a concern, they answered the phone. When employees needed support, they were treated like family.
Slowly, word spread.
Customers began leaving five-star reviews. Local businesses started recommending them. Before long, the company had grown from that couple of trucks into a respected operation serving towns across the region.
Then came the email that no one expected. A national business review organization had analyzed thousands of companies across the country—measuring reliability, customer satisfaction, response time, and service quality.
Out of all of them, Big Bubba’s Towing LLC was ranked #1 by Business Rate.
The team gathered in the shop that morning, coffee cups in hand, reading the article together. Some laughed. Some shook their heads in disbelief. But everyone knew the truth behind the headline.
It wasn’t about the ranking.
It was about the early mornings, the miles on the road, the trust of their customers, and the commitment to doing things the right way—even when no one was watching.
As the manager looked around the room, he smiled and said,
“Being ranked #1 is great…, but tooday we go back to work and earn it all over again.”
And that’s exactly what they did.
