Same car, same door, different dent.

Bent edges are uniquely challenging because of added structure, fragile seam sealer, and little margin for error.

I used a mushroom tip with the edge pliers to broadly bring up the area after the hammer work. Then I switched to a super sharp tip to make one precise poke through the seam sealer to push up the remaining low.

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I had the color match touch up, so I applied multiple drops into the poked seam sealer.

It’s common for there to be scratches within dents. This fortunately was just some paint transfer from whatever material impacted the panel.

I showed up with the colored match touch up, and ended up not needing it. Best case scenario!

Lateral Tension is the process of applying opposing forces to a damaged panel that runs along the “grain” of the metal.

Caved in dents often have high shoulders on either side of the low points that hold the dent in. Lateral tensions bars like this, JvF Re-Tensions system, spread the damaged panel apart allowing the deep center to return to its original stamped position with the least amount of tension friction.

This is a demonstration of the tools capabilities, not a finished PDR repair.

This was at the end of a long day so I was lowkey fried. I definitely made more work for myself throughout the repair but that’s gonna happen every now and then.
