This 1983 GMC came to Hardcore Kustoms after a previous carbureted LS swap with a 700R4 transmission that never ran reliably. The goal was simple: make it dependable and ready to enjoy.

Our team got to work by:
• Installing a Holley Sniper 2 EFI system for improved drivability and reliability
• Programming the MSD ignition controller
• Installing the rear lights and brake switch
• Raising the rear with stock shackles for a better stance
• Adding window tint to complete the look

The 53’ Chevy used Stimsonite 12a reflectors. Unfortunately they’re not available anymore and the ones on the truck were faded.

We took the reflector housing and fit a 2.5” LED in its place so the rear of the truck has a little more light. Below will be factory style taillights.

This 53’ Chevy truck has been hiding for 14yrs. We’re cleaning up the chassis, installing an LS combo, adding AC, and painting everything but the exterior. This has been one of the fastest/funnest builds to date and might even get an original sun-visor installed!

Eleanor has been hiding in the background. The silver lining is majority of the body kit failed due to being attached incorrectly. Now that the majority of the bodywork issues are resolved and the panels are gapped, she’s getting flipped on her side to address a new floor pan being stacked on top of the old one by the previous builder.
