👥People: introducing the puppies to different people of all ages, ethnicities, genders & appearances; such as with glasses, beards, wheelchairs, walking aids etc.
📍Places: taking the puppies to new locations - drives in the car in a car carrier, walking in the neighborhood or in new neighborhoods in a stroller
🪵Textures: exposing puppies to various textures to walk upon such as hardwood flooring, tile, carpet, cloth/ fabric
🦜Other Animals: we start socialization with another dog a week after birth - as our puppies are raised in home under foot with a 14+ year old pitbull who has been titled grandmother to all litters born. We do not advise socialization to other dogs until your puppy is COMPLETELY vaccinated and strongly advise AGAINST visiting places where lots of dogs have been/ go such as dog parks —- as you run the risk of your puppy contracting an illness that could be life threatening. The main concern is Parvo. Parvo is transmitted when a susceptible dog comes into contact with the virus, which can be on objects like shoes, clothes, bedding, bowls, grass, carpets, and floors. Infected dogs start shedding the virus a few days before showing signs of illness, which usually appear 3–10 days later. Parvo is a very hardy virus when in the environment and is resistant to extreme heat, freezing, detergents and many disinfectants - making it able to survive in the environment for up to NINE years.
💉For best protection, puppies need to complete a full series (3 Parvo vaccinations at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age) and adult dogs need to have Parvovirus booster vaccines every 1-3 years, as determined by your veterinarian.
