📸 AVIATION PHOTOGRAPHERS, VETERANS & HISTORIANS — WE NEED YOUR HELP! ✈️
The Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum is working to tell the complete story of the aircraft preserved in our collection — and we're looking for photographs showing our actual aircraft during their years of military service.
We have plenty of photographs documenting these aircraft since they arrived at the museum, but for many of them we have very few — or sometimes no — photographs showing the aircraft while they were still in operational service.
That's where the aviation community comes in!
If you're an aviation photographer, veteran, former aircrew member, maintainer, squadron historian, or simply have an archive of military aviation photographs, we'd love for you to take a look.
We're specifically searching by aircraft serial number and Bureau Number (BuNo) so that we can identify photographs of the exact airframes now preserved at the Valiant Air Command.
📷 We're looking for DIGITAL images only.
These can be:
• Original digital photographs
• High-resolution scans of prints
• Scans of slides or negatives
• Other digitized historical photographs
Please do not send us original photographs, slides, negatives, or other physical material. We are only seeking digital files or scanned copies.
We're interested in photographs from any period of an aircraft's service life — on the flight line, aboard an aircraft carrier, deployed overseas, undergoing maintenance, participating in an exercise, sitting on the ramp, or anywhere else its story may have taken it.
Whenever possible, we'd also love to know:
• Photographer's name
• Approximate date
• Location
• Squadron or unit
• Any story or information associated with the photograph
Our goal is to use these images to help document the individual histories of our aircraft for our museum displays, website, social media, educational material and future historical projects.
Photographers will be credited wherever practical. We're not asking you to surrender ownership or copyright of your photographs — we're asking photographers and copyright holders who are willing to allow the Valiant Air Command to preserve and use a digital copy as part of our historical and educational mission.
Even a single photograph could help us fill in a missing chapter in the history of one of our aircraft.
Please share this post with aviation photography groups, squadron associations, veterans' groups, former maintainers and aircrew, and anyone who may have photographed these aircraft during their service careers.
Help us reconnect our aircraft with their past and preserve their stories for future generations. 🇺🇸✈️
