We are deeply saddened to share that Mayor Fred D. Thomas passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. A dedicated leader and passionate advocate for Simi Valley, he was first elected in November 2022 and re-elected this past November, serving with unwavering commitment and love for the community.
A proud Simi Valley resident since 1994, Mayor Thomas, 67, dedicated himself to improving the City both in and beyond his role as Mayor. He supported organizations like the Boys & Girls Club and the Simi Valley Police Foundation, earning honors such as the Simi Valley Community Foundation Humanitarian Award and the Boys & Girls Club Champion of Youth Award.
His leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication will be deeply missed, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for years to come. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Brandee (Brandon) and Kristen (Jay), his grandchildren, Shane and Summer, and his partner, Ashley.
Details about services are currently unavailable and will be shared as more information is provided. The City Council will discuss next steps during its meeting on Monday, January 27.
