TECH TIP TUESDAY:CUSTOMER EDITION- TIRES! 🛞

Don't underestimate the value of quality tires in good condition! Maintaining the proper pressure will help minimize wear, and protect fuel economy ⛽️💰

Make sure you have plenty of tread, this can be checked by using a penny.
•Insert penny so Lincoln's head is upside down
• If the tread does not cover any part of his head, the tire should be changed

Keep an eye on the tread for uneven wear, this can indicate a problem with the steering or suspension. Sometimes the vehicle just needs an alignment but if the vehicle has high mileage it's possible there could be more underlying issues.

TECH TIP TUESDAY: Keeping it cool!🌡🌞 🧊

Coolant (aka Antifreeze) is one of the most important fluids after engine oil!

Making sure the system is full so the thermostat can do its job and keep the engine at the right temperature is key! 🔑 A small leak can become a big leak in no time! ⏰️

If your engine overheats, turn the engine off as soon as its safe to do so! DO NOT REMOVE THE CAP WHILE ITS HOT‼️Let the engine cool completely prior to opening the system.

Repairs such as a thermostat, water pump, all the way up to engine work (head gasket- see attached photo) or full engine replacement can be caused by overheating.

If you have to add coolant or you see a puddle on the ground, it's time to get that taken care of. Schedule an appointment today!

TECH TIP TUESDAY: Timing Belts

Timing Belts keep the top and bottom half of your engine moving in sync. Without the correct timing, engine damage is likely.

Belts are due to be replaced around 100k, however some can be due as early as 60k on certain vehicles. Always be sure to check your owners manual.

TECH TIP TUESDAY : 🚨Warning Lights🚨

Does your car look like a festive Christmas tree when you start it? How do you know what lights can't be ignored and which ones are not as serious?

URGENT ATTENTION‼️
• Flashing check engine
• Oil pressure
• Overheating
• Transmission Temperature
These need to be checked immediately. When you see these on the dash the car should not be driven. * will require a tow *

Non-flashing check engine lights are still important and can cause damage but do not need to be checked immediately. Car can usually be driven.

If you are experiencing any lights on your dash, bring your car to brakes auto so we can scan the code and diagnose the issue!
