⚠️ HIGH WATER & VEHICLES — PLEASE DON’T RISK IT! ⚠️
With bad weather and heavy rain, we want to remind everyone how dangerous high water can be — both for you and your vehicle.
🚗 Never attempt to drive through flooded roads or high water. It can be much deeper or faster-moving than it appears, and conditions can change quickly.
Even if your vehicle makes it through the water, serious damage can occur, including:
• 💧 Water entering the engine, causing hydrolock and potentially catastrophic engine damage
• ⚡ Damage to computers, wiring, sensors, and other electrical components
• ⚙️ Water contamination in the transmission, differentials, transfer case, and other drivetrain components
• 🛞 Damage to wheel bearings, brakes, and suspension components
• 🦠 Water entering the interior, leading to mold, odors, corrosion, and electrical problems
• 🔧 Problems that may not show up until days or even weeks later
If you’re unsure how deep the water is, TURN AROUND — DON’T DROWN. No vehicle is worth risking your safety.
If your vehicle has been driven through high water or partially submerged, don’t assume everything is okay just because it still runs. Have it inspected as soon as possible. In some cases, continuing to drive or attempting to restart a water-damaged engine can make the damage significantly worse.
🌧️ During severe weather, put your safety first. Cars can be repaired or replaced — you can’t.
Stay safe, stay alert, and never underestimate high water.
