Greene's Automotive Service, Inc. Family owned and operated since 1945. In 1945 SV (POP) and Robert Greene owned and operated Greene's Standard Oil on Columbus Drive and Tampa St. Bobby Jr.

(Gold Ring sandwich shop is now located there) In 1947 they moved across the street and were known as Greene's Shell Station. In the 1960's the business converted the name to Greene's Phillips 66. They stayed at Columbus Dr and Tampa St until the mid 70's and were forced to move because the rent was too high. 1978 they purchased the station at 3301 N. Florida Ave and were known as Greene's Texaco

. Greene's was one of the last full service stations in the city of Tampa. Finally in 2004, we had the gas pumps removed and now just run the repair shop. SV (Pop) worked everyday until he was 82years old and quit driving. Robert (Bob) worked until he was 80 years and was forced to quit due to having a stroke. Mary Greene has been full time with the station since 1978. She has been the one throughout the years to keep the boys in line and run the office. started working for his grandfather and father during his last few years of high school and is currently managing the station with the help of his mother. Roger Sr. started working for Greene's when he was just 15 years old. He eventually retired and moved out of town. Roger's son Roger Jr. (Rogie) started working for Greene's right after high school and is still currently employed with the station. We would like to thank all of our customers, friends and family that have stayed with us through the years. We sincerely appreciate you trusting us with your cars.

As hard as this is I wanted to let everyone know that Iā€™ve decided to close the business and as a family weā€™ve decided to sell the station. Many of you have not only been customers but youā€™ve been like family to us. My Grandfather started this business in 1945 and worked up until he couldnā€™t work anymore. I started working for my grandfather back in 1969 at the age of 15. I was in High school when I actually got a paycheck. When my grandfather couldnā€™t run the business any longer my father then took over the business with my mom. My dad would run the front by pumping gas, checking the oil, tires and cleaning the windshield. My mom ran the office, ran for parts and made sure we had good lunch and many treats that she would make or buy. After my dad passed my mom ran the business for several years until she passed 2018. I took over the business in 2018. I was trying to work on as many cars as I could while running the office. In 2020, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Thankfully with a great group of doctors and Roger Jr. I was able to take time off from work to heal. As of today, Iā€™m still cancer free. I thank God every day. This decision has been one of the hardest decisions to make. I would have loved to carry on the legacy a little longer but my recent years have made me appreciate how precious life is. I look forward to spending a little extra time with my wife, children and grandkids.
