OCTOBER SAFETY SPOTLIGHT: FIRE PREVENTION

October is a great time to put extra focus on fire prevention and workplace safety. In a shipyard environment, where hot work, welding, cutting, grinding, electrical equipment, and flammable materials may be present, fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility.

Think Fire Prevention Every Day:
• Follow all hot work procedures and permit requirements.
• Keep combustible materials away from welding and cutting areas.
• Know where fire extinguishers and emergency exits are located.
• Maintain good housekeeping and keep work areas free of unnecessary debris.
• Never block fire equipment or emergency access routes.
• Report fire hazards immediately.
• Stay alert and look out for your coworkers.

A fire can start in seconds. Prevention starts with YOU.

At Gulf Marine Repair, safety isn't just a rule—it’s a responsibility we share every day.

Work Safe. Stay Alert. Protect Each Other.

Safety starts with each of us. Whether it’s wearing the proper PPE, staying alert, following safe work practices, or looking out for a coworker, every safe action makes a difference.

Thank you to Thai Dao and Jimmy Jimenez for doing your part and being Caught Being Safe! Your commitment to working safely and looking out for others helps make our workplace safer for everyone.

Stay alert. Wear your PPE. Look out for each other. Because safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Safety isn’t just about following the rules—it’s about looking out for yourself and the people around you.

Wearing the proper PPE, staying aware of your surroundings, recognizing potential hazards, and helping a coworker when needed are all part of building a strong safety culture.

A special thank you to Cartaya Moore and Paul Rohn, Jr. for doing your part and setting a great example of what it means to put safety first!

Remember: Safety is everyone’s responsibility. See something. Say something. Help each other. Work safe. Go home safe.
