This one is a tough one…🥲Steve Meier has been a part of our Goodfella’s Family for over 10 years. Nobody was happier when we decided to lean into our motorcycle business by expanding to four bays to create its own department that he ran for many years. When we decided to niche down to motorcycles and power sports exclusively, Steve became our primary buyer. He had long term relationships with the Harley dealerships and through those relationships we were able to buy their trade-ins for much of our used inventory. Mike always commended Steve’s bike prowess and knowledge of what to buy and for how much—-
The past few years have been extremely challenging for Steve physically and personally having lost a brother, a sister and another close family member all in a fairly short time span—meanwhile, his own battle with low energy, low iron counts and heart issues were burdening him. To say the wind was taken out of his sails was an understatement. He was sick and tired of being sick and tired and was anxious to get on with the recommended heart surgery that took far too long to arrange. The past year my conversations moved away from shop talk to Faith talk—✨🙏He was a believer and prayed frequently. We had honest conversations about how he wanted to die when that time came and why heaven may be a-ok with him. He was a great supporter of Mike and I—loyal all the way through. It was my greatest pleasure helping him (with the assistance of AI) to decipher his med charts, craft letters for his medical team, and help him with a healthy grocery list and meal planning—-(I don’t think he loved that part—-😬and getting him to cut back on Diet Coke😆🤦♀️—that was another challenge.)
You can probably tell where I’m going with this…we lost Steve yesterday—ironically, just how he wanted to go, peacefully in his sleep we were told. This was about a month or so after his major heart surgery and we were all sad and frustrated to see he wasn’t feeling better post-surgery. I saw him about a week and a half ago, and gave him the biggest hug, not knowing it would be the last hug I gave him. We are heartbroken to lose our dear friend and he will forever be a GOODfella❤️🏍️✝️- Tara and Mike
