9.8 hp Mercury from the early 70’s. It’s going to need the carb rebuilt. Good older motors.

Testing the motors on this beautiful old boat today.

First the 1972 Mercury 50 hp. Good compression, cleaner wiring than expected. Great spark on all four cylinders. We added a tank and fuel. Filled the tank with water, pumped the fuel up and it fired up. Ran pretty good, p*ed good after we cleaned the p*e tube. Let it run for a bit, shifted through the gears, all good. Great running motor. Video to come .

Next is the 9.8 kicker. Good spark and compression. We had a problem with the fuel inlet, took it out of the motor and added fuel to the line to the fuel fitting. Fired it up, ran it, ran and p*ed, but will need the carb cleaned out on it. Other than that it’s pretty good. 😊 😊💕

3 post in 1.

1. Starter on this 1996 Force 90 hp was dragging a little bit, so we pulled it off and sent it to Hagemeister’s in Lebanon to have them freshen it up. It came back this evening and we will reinstall it tomorrow. We also swapped out the fuel pump with the completely rebuilt one. This one we hope is ready to go home tomorrow. 🙂

2. We also installed good used trigger, stator and flywheel on this 1977 85 hp OMC. We also checked on swapping out the power pack with a used one, but then opted to order a new one and replace it tomorrow. Hopefully test running this motor tomorrow. 😊

3. 1997 Yamaha 15 hp, needs a prop seal. We knew the seal was coming in today so we removed the gear oil and old seals and when the truck came, we got the wrong seals. Tomorrow morning one of us will run to Clemmens in Eugene Oregon and pick up the new correct ones that they are holding for us. Always busy, always moving forward. Somedays faster than others . 🙂

1976 Long Shaft 2 stroke Johnson 6 hp

It had fishing line that had gotten in and chewed up the prop seal. Because it looked like the lower unit had been taken apart in the past, we decided to take it apart and put new gaskets and seals in it while we were replacing the prop seal. We also replaced the impeller, new gear oil and drain plug seals.

It took a few minutes to start after it had been sitting for a while. Cleaned the plugs and flushed the fuel. Started up and ran smooth, shifts as it should and p*es a good stream. Great motors. See videos of it running.

TN-25 This motor has become my latest nemesis. Just kidding, sort of.

I brought this 1950/51 TN-25 outside and got it ready to test. Opened the fuel, checked for leaks. Added some extra fuel. Pulled the rope a couple times, the motor fired up. We ran it for a few seconds, then we shut it off, made a couple of adjustments and pulled it again. At this point the rope/cable came out and stayed out. Took it out of the water, took it back inside and took it apart. The cable covered rope was jammed, the spring had came loose and the rope cover of the cable had came unraveled. Long story, short version. We need to take the rope pull completely apart, find a really nice cable and rope system. Clean everything up and rewind the spring before installing the new rope/cable.

Got it all back together later this afternoon. We will test it again tomorrow. This one has given us a fit, but we are on the home stretch now. I will keep you posted on it.
