Chris Kari made this post on his personal FB page about his training for "The Ruck" at Mont Du Lac on May 30th to raise money for the 23rd Veteran Organization.
Chris's last long training run included:
Carrying a 50-pound backpack, going over 10 miles with nearly 700 feet of elevation — Not bad for a “training walk.”
Congrats to Kari Toyota’s own Chris Kari on finishing one final prep ruck before The Ruck Life event at Mont du Lac on May 30th. Best of luck as you take on the challenge and help support a mission that’s changing lives for veterans and first responders across our region.
The Ruck, put on by 23rd Veteran, is more than a race or fitness event. It’s about carrying the burden for those still carrying the invisible wounds of service.
Participants ruck with weighted backpacks filled with food, clothing, and supplies while raising money for trauma recovery programs helping veterans and first responders reclaim purpose, connection, and hope.
What Mike Waldron and the team at 23rd Veteran have built is pretty remarkable. Since 2015, they’ve focused on helping veterans and first responders battling anxiety, isolation, depression, panic attacks, and trauma through their Functional Mental Health and 23V Recon programs.
And it’s working. Over the past nine years, their events have raised more than $1.3 million and collected over 30,000 pounds of donated food while helping people reconnect with family, community, and life again.
Good luck Chris. And good luck to everyone stepping up to carry a little extra weight on May 30th so someone else doesn’t have to carry theirs alone.
