Replying to Can you show us what NEW Tesla drive unit oil looks like? 👀⚡️

After our recent video showing the dark fluid we removed from a Tesla drive unit, we received this question—and the difference is pretty dramatic.

This is fresh, clean gearbox fluid used for the appropriate Tesla drive-unit service, compared with the much darker fluid we removed from a higher-mileage vehicle. Tesla specifies different approved gearbox fluids depending on the drive-unit and model year, so it’s important to use the correct fluid for the specific vehicle.

We also use the appropriate drive-unit oil filter as part of applicable service procedures. Tesla’s service information includes procedures for replacing drive-unit oil filters and servicing gearbox fluid.

We are not recommending this as a one-size-fits-all service or telling owners to service their drive units before warranty coverage ends. Every Tesla, drive unit, mileage range, and service history can be different.

If you’re curious about whether a drive-unit gearbox fluid service may be appropriate for your Tesla, send us a text or give us a call. We’ll get your vehicle information and provide more details based on your specific car.

And don’t forget—we’re still sending our used fluid samples to a third-party lab. 🔬 We’re excited to share what the results show.

What is actually inside your Tesla’s drive unit oil after 100,000 miles? 👀⚡️

We collected multiple Tesla drive unit fluid samples from vehicles with significant mileage, and some of the fluid was extremely dark.

Instead of just guessing why, we’re sending these samples to a third-party laboratory for testing to find out what’s actually inside the fluid and what may be causing it to become so dark.

Could the material inside the fluid tell us something about what’s happening inside the drive unit? And could regular drive unit fluid service help with long-term maintenance? We’re going to find out.

We’ll share the lab results when they’re ready, so follow along if you want to see what the testing reveals. 🔬⚡️

If you have questions about Tesla drive unit service, gearbox fluid, or Tesla maintenance, send us a text, give us a call, or email us.

Taking your Tesla through an automatic car wash? 🚗⚡️ Here’s what you need to know.

Before entering the car wash, make sure your windows are fully closed and turn on Car Wash Mode through your Tesla’s Controls menu.

One thing many Tesla owners may not think about is the side mirrors. Depending on the type of car wash, knowing when to fold and unfold them can help prevent unnecessary stress or misalignment.

Save this video for the next time you take your Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S, or Model X through a car wash. 👀

Can you replace just the bushing on a Tesla control arm? 👀

We got this question after our last Tesla suspension video, so we wanted to show you exactly why we recommend replacing the entire control arm when it’s worn.

A control arm isn’t just the rubber bushing. It also has other components, including the ball joint, that wear over time and can develop excessive movement.

So if you replace only the bushing, you could be putting a brand-new component into an otherwise worn control arm.

This is why suspension inspection is so important. A creaking or knocking noise may seem annoying, but worn suspension components can become a safety concern if they continue to deteriorate.

At EV+ Auto Repair, we can inspect your Tesla’s suspension, show you what we’re seeing, and explain what actually needs to be repaired.

Ever wondered what the high-voltage battery in a Tesla Model 3 actually looks like? 👀⚡️

This 2025 Tesla Model 3 came to EV+ Auto Repair with significant body damage. Before collision repairs could begin, the high-voltage battery had to be safely removed.

Just look at the size of this battery! This is the battery pack that powers the vehicle every time you charge at a Supercharger. We also found a damaged coolant line that needed attention, along with body damage that extended underneath the vehicle.

High-voltage battery removal is a highly specialized procedure and requires proper safety equipment, tools, and training. Please do not attempt this in your garage. ⚠️

If your Tesla needs battery service, maintenance, or collision repair, EV+ Auto Repair is here to help.

Have you ever seen a 2025 Tesla Model 3 without its high-voltage battery? 👀⚡️

Most Tesla owners never get to see what’s underneath their vehicle once the battery pack is removed. It’s incredible to see just how much of the car is built around the high-voltage battery.

⚠️ This is not a DIY repair. High-voltage battery removal requires specialized equipment and safety procedures.

If your Tesla needs high-voltage battery service or replacement, we’re here to help.
