This customer called about his 2014 Ram 1500 that had a cylinder #8 misfire, wanting all of the ignition coils and spark plugs replaced, and an issue with his blower motor.

Coils aren’t the cheapest, so I recommended we do an actual diagnosis before we throw parts at it. We always try to recommend doing a diagnosis first, 90% of the time it ends up saving the customer money in the end.

We found the wires for the #8 coil connector were broken/fraying. The spark plugs for that cylinder were fouled also. A new set of plugs and a new connector and the misfire was fixed.

The blower motor would work intermittently. After doing some checks we found that the TIPM (totally integrated power module, the under-hood fuse box pretty much) and connector with the wire for the blower motor power had started to melt, and would cause an intermittent connection. The customer wanted to schedule another day to take care of that

This Ford Escape came in with a roaring noise and also a fuel smell/hard start concern.

We found one of the front wheel bearings was bad and causing the noise, and also found the purge valve assembly was bad, causing the fuel smell and hard start concern.

We also noticed a misfire code for cylinder 3. After getting approval to diagnose the issue, we found a leaking head gasket, which unfortunately is a common failure point on these 2.0s 😭

A few weeks ago this 2012 1.8 Chevy Cruze came in with a noisy engine. Turns out it was noisy because it was very low on oil, due to an oil leak 🫪

After a couple hours chasing down the source of the leak, we finally found it. The camshaft sprockets were leaking oil 😵‍💫. This motor has variable camshaft timing, and oil was leaking out of the actuators into the timing cover and being flung around everywhere!

We replaced the actuators, replaced the camshaft seals and crankshaft seal, and installed a new timing set while we were in there. Fresh oil change and it’s back on the road, leak free 😎

Yesterday he brought it back to have his front pinion seal replaced, and also a Banks rear differential cover installed!

We checked out this Ram 1500 last week that kept having the electronic throttle system warning coming up on the display (the ol lightning bolt light for the mopar guys) and a code for the idle speed being higher than desired.

The vehicle has 3 different throttle bodies installed to try and alleviate the problem, but that wasn’t the cause.

We discovered that the short runner valve on the rear of the intake manifold had been replaced at some point, and the rubber seal for it was not re-installed 🤦🏼‍♂️. This caused a vacuum leak, which was the cause of the higher than desired idle. A quick smoke test is what confirmed it.

We did this one a couple weeks ago but forgot to post it 🤐

Install of a KDN Performance lock-out shifter on a Civic EF hatch! This shifter prevents you from a 1-2-1 shift and also a 2-3-2 shift. It also features a 5/R lockout so you don’t accidentally go 2-5 while shifting fast! 💪🏼

Also installed a DP Racing midplate so the motor won’t shift

This is a pretty cool way to make sure that your circuit is good and able to carry load through the wires.

This car had a bad ground for the TCM, so after repairing the ground issue I was able to confirm that the circuit is good to carry a load by using a headlight bulb to load it!

Remember, just because you have voltage on a circuit, that doesn’t mean it’s going to work 🤓
