Information on 2001 S-10 Blazer Xtreme
Blazer started out as a everyday 4.3 auto daily driver. Motor developed the typical intake manifold and head gasket failure. Current Performance provided the wiring harness due to the 01 PCM
gauges required information from the original PCM and the 97 PCM. Only mods were full exhaust at this time. Later the drivetrain setup evolved into a GOLEN spec'd head
and cam package with a ported stock lt1 intake. We installed a wet nitrous kit for a little more power. To handle the extra pony's, Griffin Transmission built the 4l60e. A Vigilante 3200 stall converter was installed supplying the power to a Ford Explorer 8.8 rear end. Power was delivered to the ground through Mickey Thompson Drag Radials on Centerline wheels. Misc parts were added along the way including a LTCC LS coilpack conversion. This motor for some reason (believe it was called the LT1 curse) decided that the cam needed to have smoother lobes. At this time the motor was removed and a 2006 LS truck motor installed in its place. The new motor was treated with a Custom Cam for a future turbo build and trunnion upgrade performed. Sanderson shorty headers were installed that supplied freer flowing air through Magnaflow Magnapacks. Nitrous outlet 2 stage wet kit was installed. Owner customized the LS truck wairing harness to control everything. The truck ran this way for over a year with a 200 shot of nitrous going 6.8@100 mph (1/8th) and 10.80s at 125mph with a race weight of 3980 lbs. The Blazer made545 rwhp and 554 rwtq at this time.Track times were still utilizing the stock OEM suspension with some Lakewood slapper bars. The leap was decided to go full turbo in February of 2012.
