KRIS CARROLL SWEEPS MATTIX SALMON WEEKEND, SCORES $10,555 PRIZE AT DELTA SPEEDWAY

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (May 31, 2026) – Kris Carroll of Claremore, Oklahoma wrapped up an impressive sweep of the inaugural Mattix Salmon Memorial at Stockton’s Delta Speedway on Saturday night, leading the 45-lap feature from the pole for a $10,555 win. Paired with his $500 Friday haul and Carroll takes over $11,000 in cash and prizes back home after an exciting and bittersweet weekend at the 1/7th mile dirt track. Photo by Maxwell Patrick Imagery

The Non-Wing spectacular attracted nearly 70 entrants from around the world to honor the late Mattix Salmon who passed away last winter.

Castro Valley’s Jake Andreotti – a former Super 600 winged Micro Sprint champion at Delta Speedway – gave Carroll all he could handle over the 45-lap contest. Andreotti used the bottom line while Carroll ran the top side. Andreotti edged underneath Carroll to lead lap 27. The duo raced side-by-side continuously before Carroll turned underneath Andreotti in turn four to take the lead back on lap 30. Andreotti then pounded the high side and reclaimed the lead on lap 32.

Andreotti searched all over the Delta Speedway and tried high and low while leading, giving Carroll a shot to try each line himself in the close battle. Carroll used the cushion to charge back into the spot on lap 39. Andreotti tried to slide Carroll to no avail into turn one, allowing Carroll to stretch out his advantage.

Eric Botelho of Kerman crashed in turn three with just one lap remaining, nullifying Carroll’s advantage. Carroll handled the final restart well and drove off for the $10,555 win. Andreotti suffered a flat right front tire, allowing Jade Avedisian to drive into second. Jett Yantis of Bakersfield was third followed by Nikko Panella of Stockton and Andreotti in fifth.

Illinois driver Braxton Flatt also won both on Friday and Saturday night, taking the action for the Restricted Non-Wing. Fourth-starting Briggs Davis of Manteca finished second followed by Tyce Domingos, Brayden Lewis, and Nixen Gabbard.

The Non-Wing Jr. Sprint action also saw the same winner on both Friday and Saturday night with Lee Uzzell of Hanford getting the job done after 25-laps of action. Huxcen Roush ran second ahead of Lucas Fenn, Jayden Carey, and Logan Fenn.

Delta Speedway races again on June 19 and 20 for the Summer Sizzler.

KRIS CARROLL OPENS MATTIX SALMON MEMORIAL WEEKEND AT DELTA IN VICTORY LANE

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (May 30, 2026) – Oklahoma visitor Kris Carroll made his mark on Stockton’s Delta Speedway on Friday night, sweeping both of his heat races and the 30-lap feature for the Mattix Salmon Memorial preliminary win. 67 Non-Wing Micro Sprints hit the speedway, racing towards Saturday’s $10,555 to win feature in honor of Mattix Salmon.

Carroll celebrated the win in victory lane with his family.

“That thing was hooked up,” Carroll said. “We’ve had a lot of fun this week. Left from Tulsa on Saturday and took the kids to see the Grand Canyon and all that fun stuff on the way here. I didn’t know Mattix but I’m really happy to be here. Everybody I talk to says he was a good dude.”

The Non-Wing action was spread across dual heat races with a total of 14 heat races held. The second set of heat races was inverted, which did not deter Carroll from winning anyway. Manteca’s TK O’Brien also won both of his heat races. Both Carroll and O’Brien race with the No. 5 and shared the front row for the feature in honor of Salmon, who raced as the No. 5 throughout his career.

Carroll swept around the outside of O’Brien at the start of the feature and never relinquished it, rolling the bottom to victory. The race’s biggest moment came on lap seven when Alex Panella of Stockton flipped violently side over side but emerged from his vehicle unscathed. O’Brien tried to make the top shelf work but settled for second. Fresno’s Colton Key, Oklahoma’s Cole Roberts, and Kerman’s Eric Botelho rounded out the top-five.

Illinois visitor Braxton Flatt won the Non-Wing Restricted feature with an outstanding 27 entries on hand. Tyce Domingos finished second followed by Myles Boertje, Cash Brooks, and Lee Uzzell.

The Jr. Sprints raced wingless as well with Uzzell scoring the victory. Huxcen Roush, Lucas Fenn, Logan Fenn, and Casen Key were the balance of the top-five finishers.

Saturday’s activities kick off with the drivers meeting at 5:30pm before teams race towards the lucrative five figure payday in honor of Mattix Salmon.

Total awards will be over $50,000 for the two-nights of action at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. Event merchandise will also be available at the event.

Delta Speedway and the Salmon Family thank generous partners Westlake Farms, Reyes and Hall, A&M Livestock, G Baby, Panella Trucking, Guhl Motors, Roth Motorsports, Sun Valley Raisins, Central California Ag Repair, Seros Racing, Shop Corey Day, Hoosier Tire West, Sally Self (Grammy) & Tony Reyes, NorCal Builders, NH3 Plus, Justin Sanders, Shield Racing Suits, and Elk Grove Ford for their help with this inaugural event.
