We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Phillipsburg Police Department, NJ during this heartbreaking time. May you rest in peace Det. Sgt Marino. We thank you for your service. π
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Phillipsburg Police Department announces the passing of Detective Sergeant Brett Marino #321.
Det. Sgt. Marino was a proud 13-year veteran of our department whose talent, dedication, and relentless work ethic were recognized early in his career. He quickly earned a position as a Detective in our Special Operations Division, a specialized unit focused on investigating narcotics and street crime related offenses. In that role, Brettβs commitment to protecting our community and seeking justice never wavered.
To those who knew him, Brett was far more than a police officer. He was everyoneβs best friend, the one who could make you laugh when you needed it most, the steady voice of reason when chaos loomed, and the kind of person who made every room brighter simply by being in it. His courage, iconic humor, and strength during his battle were nothing short of heroic and inspiring.
While doctors offered a six-month prognosis, Brett refused to accept it, fighting with everything he had for nearly two years, demonstrating an unshakable will and warriorβs spirit every step of the way.
Det. Sgt. Marino is survived by his loving wife, four beautiful children, three brothers, one sister, many close relatives, and an entire family in blue who will forever honor his memory.
To our community, thank you for being with us and please join in keeping Sergeant Marino, his family, and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
