Many new drivers underestimate how much space they need between their car and the vehicle ahead.

Would you know if you're following too closely?

💡 Try the 3-second method:

When the vehicle ahead passes a fixed roadside object, start counting.

If you reach that same object in less than three seconds, increase your following distance.

Remember, higher speeds, bad weather, and poor visibility may require a much larger gap.

❓ Do teens have to wait 9 months after receiving their learner's permit before starting Behind-the-Wheel?

❌ MYTH!

The nine-month learner's permit holding requirement relates to driver's license eligibility, not when an eligible student can begin the Behind-the-Wheel course.

For our Teen Behind-the-Wheel program, students need:

✅ A valid learner's permit

✅ Completion of classroom Driver Education

✅ Proof of classroom completion (Pink Slip/Pink Card)

You may be able to begin Behind-the-Wheel before completing the permit-holding period.
