Here’s some builds and projects we’ve finished up on lately.
Haven’t posted anything in a while as it’s been crazy and I’m trying to get caught up on much overdue work.
We’re not closed. We’re not out of business. We’re far from it. We’ve dialed a lot back to manage both my full time job (and the copious amounts of OT available) and trying to finish up a lot of the current and far overdue builds we have been needing to finish up.
In a nut shell, the shop got overwhelming. I love building cars but I also have a problem with not wanting to disappoint people. When someone tells me their dream, I hate to say “no”. And that’s what I’ve learned is my weak spot. I ended up with way too many full scale builds that set me back way too far. Because full scale builds don’t pay the bills. And when you have to do the easy, quick jobs to pay the bills, the big jobs get pushed back. No more. I’ve learned to tell people “No”. Hell I’ve declined more work in 3 months than I have in prolly the last year. But you know what….these long projects are getting done and out of here.
When I’m all caught up at the shop with all outstanding builds done, this shop will still be here. Still turning out work. Still making dreams come true. But on a more personal level. No more deadlines. And I mean that. I will do builds, correctly, at my pace or they can go elsewhere. Because McClain Motorsports isn’t “half ass”. I enjoy building things the right way and I don’t have the schedule to be fast.
I thank each and every one of my customers. I strive to make sure dreams are fulfilled, but I’m putting my family first. I’m not missing anymore holidays or family events to finish a car or meet a deadline. The cars will be there or they won’t. My family is what’s important and I damn sure won’t live forever. The right kind of customers will see and respect this. The ones that don’t….well, that’s the kind we send elsewhere anyways.
To the future.
