Bethlehem Alight for Nativity
Bethlehem, Monday, Dec. 25th, 1944 UP
The miracle of the ages was re-enacted in Bethlehem last night, and, symbolically, a Babe was born again in the grotto where, nearly 2,000 years ago, Christ was born.
The route from Jerusalem to Bethlehem was lined with Army personnel, military equipment, and a multitude walking the roads to celebrate the Nativity at the site of Jesus's birth.
Washington , Dec. 24th, 1944, President Roosevelt gave a speech on the determination of right thinking.
" This generation has passed through many recent years of deep darkness, watching the spread of the poison of Hitlerism and fascism in Europe and the growth of imperialism and militarism in Japan, and the final clash of war all over the world. Then came the dark days of the fall of France and the ruthless bombing of England and the desperate battles of Pearl Harbor, Corregidor, and Singapore. Since then, the prayers of good men and women and children the world over have been answered. The tide of the battle has turned slowly but inexorably against those who have sought to destroy civilization." -- President Roosevelt
The Apostle Paul's witness before Areopagus, Acts 17:25-28 speaks of the God who made the world and everything in it, including mankind. He identifies this one true God as superior to all lesser, competing deities that might be worshipped in Athens. He also mentions such an altar at Olympia, as an inscription reads," Unknown gods."
What might those unknown gods be this Advent/Christmas? Have you drifted from Jesus? Have you been groping around in darkness, caught off guard by the culture war, and trying to feel your way back to God? The Bible speaks to us. What Paul is saying to us in Acts17:26 is we all come from One man. Paul affirms that we are all descendants of Adam and that the entire human race is from him. That eliminates any form of racism, "since the ethnic groups come from him.
In this Christmas season, despite the world's chaos and the rise in political violence and fighting among the masses, we too live to rejoice in the miracle of the ages. Jesus is born.
This Christmas, seek God, and perhaps feel your way toward him and find him. God's providence leads us to seek Him. Remember God's omnipresence, "not far from each one of us implies that He hears our prayers and knows our hearts. Worship Him this Christmas. Seek God with all your heart. " In him we live and move and have our being. "Jesus is close, born to live within our hearts. ( Romans 1:18-3:20) He is not far away, regardless of your pain, your separation, Jesus alone will fill you. Jesus Christ lives. He lives, salvation to impart. " In him we live and move and have our being;" (Acts 17:28)
(Romans 10:17, John 20:31, Acts 17:30, Romans 10:10, Acts 2:38, Revelation 2:10)
O Come ,Let Us Adore Him,
