July 7th at .co — celebrating Rotary Day and Mazda RX-7 Day.

This marks our 11th year attending this incredible event, and it never disappoints. The energy of the city was unmatched, which unfortunately meant I wasn’t able to capture as many photos as I wanted. Finished in Sophia Red Metallic, this exceptionally original Cosmo remains completely stock, has never been smoked in, and is powered by its factory 12A fuel-injected turbocharged twin-rotor engine paired with the desirable 5-speed manual transmission.

Originally positioned as Mazda’s personal luxury flagship, the Cosmo blended advanced technology with grand touring comfort. Period Mazda brochures highlighted its aerodynamic hardtop styling, digital instrumentation, luxury appointments, and effortless rotary turbo performance—making it one of Japan’s most sophisticated GT cars of the mid-1980s. The 12A Turbo was Mazda’s first production fuel-injected turbocharged rotary engine, producing 165 PS (163 hp) and driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. At launch, the turbocharged Cosmo was briefly among Japan’s fastest production cars.
