GEVA MINUTES 3/10/19
There were no Minutes from 2/10/19
Dan reported on his OBD readout from his Nissan Leaf. It is 2 years old and has over 106,000 miles, 3000 recharges and over 200 times run in “turtle mode”. He has not lost one bar.
The Earth Day drive electric event was scheduled for the Science Center Planetarium parking lot has been cancelled.
Dennis gave a treasurer’s report and we currently have $729 in our account. He said that Wayne should get his $79 expense for lettered club pens soon. He also reminded the club that joining the EAA for $35 donates $10 to our GEVA club and gets their news magazine Current Events. It is packed with much good information and news.
Pat Justis from Ameren MO gave a talk on their EV charging efforts. The program is called Missouri Charge Ahead. They want to promote more business charging and more battery EVs (BEV) over hybrids. Three years ago their I-70 charging plan was refused because a utility is not allowed to own or operate a charging station. Ameren MO wants to make the public aware of the lack of charging stations between cities in MO. For example, it is not practical now to drive between St. Louis and Kansas City. The VW settlement money needs to be used for the whole state.
In the future, CCS Combo fast charging will be more common than ChadeMo since the later is mainly used in the Nissan Leaf. Electric vehicle service equipment EVSE i.e. chargers need to be more numerous so that the public will be able to drive longer distances without worry. The public service commission (PSC) will need to approve Ameren’s plan. They have decided a workshop is needed to study the plan before making a final decision but were impressed with the inability of EV owners to drive between cities.
Electric usage peaks between the hours of 5-6PM when people come home after work. Solar power drops off during these hours so other types of power such as wind could be used.
Ameren plans to pay for dealer training as part of their promotion of electric vehicles. They also advertize a $3500 rebate for a Nissan Leaf.
