UPDATE 10AM: Power was restored to all customers around 9:30 am.

FROM EARLIER: A tree limb took down a section of primary line causing a power outage this morning. Currently over 400 customers are impacted in the area of W. Washington to W. Edwards between S. MacArthur and N Lincoln approximately. Crews will work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

The Springfield Fire Dept is responding to a large scrap metal pile on fire at Mervis iron (1000 S. 9th St). We have units on scene that are working to suppress the fire, but there is a large column of black smoke that’s being emitted from the Fire. The Springfield Fire Department is continuously monitoring the air quality at the scene and downwind for contaminants, and will report any hazardous conditions to the community if that were to occur. Those with allergies or sensitivities to smoke are asked to avoid the area.
