I apologize for the length of this document. However, this will answer questions many of you have. The Bultaco Astro Cup Club Org.”MISSION STATEMENTOn April 26, 2014 Art Randall, (the “Founding Director” of “The Bultaco Astro Cup Club”), made and posted the following statement on the flattrack.com open forum.“My Goal is to create a durable fun club that grows to develop promotional ideas & marketing products in conjunction with selected promoters ofGREAT FACILITIES Just Like We Have WithJim Terchilla At Mid America Raceway &have an "Astro Cup East"...West...etc...Jim & Mid America are top notch &hopefully this relationship continues forever...(WE) are simply "Reserving & Protecting" a "Right Of Interest" to "Further Develop" with the likes of Eddie or Gene orPaul Covert or Matt George or Brian Hopper or The PMC or Steve Nace or Wild Will & on and on...in an effort to...Bring Something Close To Home or simply...More Often For Many Astro Nut Dudes!”That statement was made by Art Randall ,the club’s founding director, on an open forum, in a very short, abbreviated, and informal way. However, that is precisely what this Club / Organization is to be all about. The following is only added to that initial short and simplified version of our “Mission Statement” for more clarity and a little more detailed explanation of the club and or organization‘s “Mission Statement”.It is the desire of “All The Club’s Founding Officers / Principles“ to see and insure that “The Club” does not turn into anything other than what it has always been from it’s beginning back in 2010 which is as follows. #1. “The Bultaco Astro Cup Club / Organization” is and has always been a group of “Like Minded Vintage Adults” that have their friendship, fun, and camaraderie all wrapped around their common love for racing the historic “Vintage Bultaco Motorcycle” in non professional vintage sportsman events that have been copywritten and trademarked by “The Bultaco Astro Cup Club” as the “Astro Cup”. #2. These historic “Astro Cup” races, events, gatherings, and or parties are not intended to be Professional money paying events for current full time active AMA Professional license holders or youth events for riders that are not considered legal adults. They are, have always been, and shall remain non professional sportsman type events for retired and or semi-retired Pro riders and other like minded mature adults who fit into the minimum age as required by the “Astro Cup” rules committee which will initially have to be “The Club / Organization’s” founding principle officers. #3. “The Bultaco Astro Cup Club” is a legal 501C nonprofit organization who’s main charity ,(at this point and place in time), will be “Aid to Injured Riders” known as “AIR”.We will have some operating costs that we will absolutely have to figure out where and how to cover.
However, our main goal will be to function as a “Charity Club / Organization” that gives back to our sport through charitable donations made VIA the promotion and advancement of the annual “Astro Cup National” in Indianapolis, In. as well as the future “Astro Cup Regional Championship” series that will eventually also include “The Bultaco Challenge” series as well.As “The Club / Organization” evolves a more clear set of rules will be spelled out for everyone involved. Until that can all take place the following simple set of rules are all that anyone needs to be concerned with.Current “Astro Cup” Rules:A) These historic “Astro Cup” events are only meant for Bultaco motorcycles with period correct 35mm forks of any make and twin shock rear suspension. No large diameter forks or mono shock frames.B) It is not mandatory but highly recommended that they physically resemble one of the Bultaco Astro motorcycle models that were manufactured by Bultaco in various forms, paint schemes, and styles from their first year of production and sale in 1972 through their final production run in May of 1977 and final official retail sales year of 1978.C) Everyone involved has unanimously agreed that thirty (30) years of age should be the minimum age limit for any participant in any of the “Astro Cup” events. However, it has also been agreed that any legal adult between the age of 21 and 29 that................. #1. Has NEVER had a Pro racing license, and who.... #2. Would NOT create a danger to the 40, 50, 60, and 70 year olds for which this event was and stillis primarily intended for should also be considered as entrants on strictly a case by case basis. Therefore, for the time being, AND on a trial basis, we will allow those from 21 through 29 years of age who meet the above outlined criteria, and who have already entered this 2014 years event, to race in this years event. Any additional riders that fall into that age group can apply to the Club’s principle officers for possible acceptance (?) on strictly a case by case basis.D) The “Astro Cup” is not intended for current full time AMA Pro or GNC riders but rather for non pro riders and for retired and or semi retired Pro riders over 45 years of age.We ask that any suggestions for additions to the above set of simple rules be clearly spelled out and sent directly to the club / organization’s founding officers and not negatively debated on any public forum as that will only defeat the purpose, intent, and goal of this “Cup Fun Club” for all those involved and who are and have been enjoying it so much.Thank you very much for all that each of you “Cup Fun Club” Dudes and Dudets do, Sincerely,“The Bultaco Astro Cup Club” Founding Officers / PrinciplesThe “Bultaco Challenge” rules, goals, and guidelines. The “Bultaco Challenge” will eventually be a part of the “Astro Cup National” event each year as well as the “Astro Cup Regional Championship” series of events. And it is exactly what it implies. It is to be a “Challenge” to all other single cylinder, air cooled, two stroke powered motorcycles, that were manufactured and sold to the general public, up through the last year of production and sale for the Bultaco Astro motorcycles. The last production run was May of 1977 and final official sales year was 1978.Any 250cc through 370cc motorcycles that meet that criteria may compete in the “Bultaco Challenge” and “Challenge the Bultacos” of similar size, design, and vintage age for the win.
Examples would be any Bultaco, Ossa, Montessa, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki. Harley Davidson air cooled two strokes, etc., etc that were manufactured and sold through 1978.All of those involved with “The Bultaco Astro Cup Club” feel that the addition of this “Bultaco Challenge” will be a very successful addition to the “Premiere Astro Cup” class.Current “Bultaco Challenge” Rules:A) These historic “Bultaco Challenge” events are meant for period correct motorcycles as outlined above with period correct 35mm forks of any make and twin shock rear suspension. No large diameter forks or mono shock frames.B) A maximum of .100” overbore will be allowed due to the vintage nature of these motorcycles and the none availability of replacement cylinders and or liners for them to be maintained for these vintage events.C) The age requirements will be the same as those for the “Premiere Astro Cup” events.Appendix / Addendum:As of April 24, 2014 all of the following sayings, terms, and or logos were and are hereby Copywriten and Trademarked by “The Bultaco Astro Cup Club” a legal 501C nonprofit organization.
