Back in the 1950's, the Puckett family owned a Harley Davidson dealership in Orlando Florida, and devoted a great amount of time racing and experimenting with modifications to the2 stroke, Harley Davidson 125 cc and 165cc engines. The Puckett's really enjoyed the little Hummer motorcycles, and wanted to make them as fast as possible, in an effort to win races! They realized that a lot of horsepower could be gained, by simply removing the stock exhaust system, and began experimenting with different expansion chamber dimensions. They also experimented with the factory cylinder port timing. The Puckett's also began producing a variety of their own, after-market parts including race heads, cooling rings, expansion chambers, and hotter ignition systems.Soon, engines built using their specifications and parts, went on to win races and hare scramble events across the nation. Today, Puckett parts are rare. Very rare. Rare as a hen's teeth! Also rare is the opportunity to race a Harley Hummer! But soon, everyone will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to race a Harley Hummer, right around the corner! On August 28th, 2025 there will be an organized, 1/2 mile Hummer flat track race in Davenport Iowa. If youve ever considered flat track racing a Hummer, here is your once in a life-time opportunity! If anyone is interested in racing, simply show up at Davenport, join us in the pits, and ask for a free copy of the "Puckett Hop Up Data", which contains very useful information on their cylinder modifications, port dimensions, expansion chamber dimensions, and so much more! Looks like there may be at least 1 more Hummer flat track race at Davenport 2025! We have just barely enough racers showing interest, that the promoter has agreed to at least consider the Hummer class! If you have any interest in flat track racing a Hummer, we would love to have you join us at Davenport on Thursday, August 28th ! Anyone feel like dirt track racing, on a Harley Hummer? Sound like fun?? We need more Hummer race bikes at Davenport Iowa. For the past 25 years or more, Harley Hummer owners from across the United States have converged at Davenport Iowa, and raced the famous 1/2 mile dirt track at Davenport. This year, the officials have completely eliminated the Hummer class, due to a declining participation rate. The officials are attempting to replace the Hummer class, with a different class (probably 250cc Japanese Yamaha's and Honda's). To preserve and continue the Harley Hummer class alive at Davenport, we simply need a few more entries to keep the class alive. If you have ever wanted to race around a little 1/2 mile dirt track, wide open on a Harley Hummer, here is your chance! If anyone is thinking about racing, and has questions, concerns, or needs help, please reach out! The rules are simple. The experience and memories are forever!
