At just 25 years old, Houston Johnson became the newest star of the USRA Modified division, capturing his first National Championship with an incredible season of dominance and
determination. The Kansas City, Missouri racer rolled out for 41 starts, collecting 20 feature wins, 30 top-fives, and 36 top-tens in a year that saw him outduel the best in the business. Johnson’s smooth yet aggressive style and his ability to close races under pressure defined a season that elevated him to the top of America’s premier Modified racing series.

Houston collected wins at the following:
📍Creek County Speedway- 1 𝐖𝐢𝐧
📍I-35 Speedway Winston- 16 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐬
📍Tulsa Speedway- 3 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐬

Congratulations to Houston and crew on a great season. And to all of his great marketing partners for riding along with him to a National Championship Title. Houston will be collecting a cool $10,000 payday at the awards banquet on January 24th.

What a wild ride this 2025 racing season has been! This past week at the USRA Nationals was full of ups and downs, but also one we’ll never forget.

On Wednesday night, we picked up a heat race win from 4th, only to get DQ’d in the tech barn for the left-side wheel base being .25 of an inch short. That would have put us starting in the back of the C-Main so we decided to get the car prepared for Thursday. Thursday night we started 8th in the heat and finished 4th. In the A-main, we slipped back to 22nd but fought our way back up to 13th.

Friday brought more progress—starting 4th in the heat, finishing 3rd, and locking into the A. We redrew a 13 and drove up to 6th. With the format taking our top two nights, we locked into the A Main for Saturday starting 12th and were able to finish 8th after falling back early on trying to pace ourselves in the 50 lap feature. Saturday afternoon the top 3 in National Points were pulled to the tech barn for further inspection - we passed with no issues.

Back in March, I set a goal: win the USRA National Championship in the Modifieds. Last night, that became official.
This season took countless hours, effort, and sacrifice, but the payoff has been worth it. We faced negativity, doubt, and challenges, but stayed focused on what mattered.

🚨ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Terry Phillips Racing with Bloodline Race Cars is joining forces with Mullens Racing Chassis. It’s an inevitable change that makes the most sense that ensures the upmost success.

Terry and Tanner Mullens have had a close relationship for many years and tour together. The two have continuously bounced ideas off each other and believe teaming up will ultimately benefit all. Bloodline Race Cars will continue to build A-modifieds and B-modified chassis. Terry will also be a dealer for Mullens Gen 3 modified chassis.

In addition to Bloodline continuing building chassis, Terry will also continue assisting in setups and selling parts to all existing and new customers through Bloodline Chassis and Larry Phillips Autosports.

We are excited for this new venture and all the success to come
