We have a plethora of Santa Cruz models right now at Green on Dirksen, and since I actually drive one myself, I figured I’d tell you why I like mine….When I bought my 2024, I was a little self-conscious about the purchase, but it worked for my negative equity blah blah blah blah) I called one of my truck-owning friends and told him, “I bought a caruck.” He said, “What the **** is a caruck?” I told him it was a Santa Cruz and he said, “Thank you for not calling that a truck.” 😂
A couple days later I called him back and reminded him of all the times I’ve needed a bag of dirt, a fence post or something else from Menards and had to bother him on his only day off. I told him, “Now I don’t have to call you anymore, and I’m getting about 25 miles per gallon combined.” That’s when he said, “I like your new truck Adam.” 😂
I’ve used mine to haul pavers, bags of dirt, landscaping supplies and you can stuff about $500 worth of stuff from Sam’s Club under the Tauneau cover! The cooler lid becomes part of the bed floor, and even with the pavers loaded over it, mine held the weight without sinking in. The built-in cooler has been even more useful than I expected. My wife is diabetic, so when we go out of town we always bring plenty of snacks and water. When we stay at a hotel, we used to either throw away the leftover food or rush straight home before it went bad. Now I put two big bags of ice in the drainable storage compartment, throw everything in there and it stays cold for hours. We don’t have to waste food or rush home, and when the ice melts I can just open the drain.
No, it’s not a full-size truck, but I don’t need a full-size truck. It does the truck stuff I actually need it to do, it’s comfortable to drive every day and I get around 25 MPG.
If you’ve been curious about the Santa Cruz, come see me at Green on Dirksen in Springfield. We have plenty to choose from right now and I’ll show you the same things I use and like about my own.
