Next mission on the board is to prepare the Head.
I plan to use this one for performance so it’s getting all the goodies. First up, Port and Polish!

Starting off on the exhaust side, I lined up the gasket to trace my guide lines. My goal here is to open up the exhaust ports ever so slightly, so they match the gasket’s measurements. This helps creat maximum airflow .
After the exhaust has been ported, it’s on to polishing! This stage will include polishing the combustion chambers as well. Keeping in mind that this process takes lots of time to get right.

Once satisfied with the results on the exhaust side, we’ll move to the intake ports.
Repeating the tracing process for the intake gasket except on the intake side you kesve it roughed up a bit to help promote air/fuel mixture. Swirls on the in-paths and eliminating the short turns will increase the whole projects air flow mechanics!!

The transformation of the KADET over the last two weeks has been crazy!!
We got the block from my friend Keven in NJ, brought it home and pressure washed the gunk off before taking it to Jon Belley for a V***r Blast. Then the sweat and prep process to get the block ready for paint. The VHT Primer and DupliColor paint made for an AMAZING combo!!
This turned out great and I can’t wait to continue bringing everyone updates as I move to the next task:
The HEAD!!

The KADET has had the freeze plugs replaced and new paint sprayed!

The DNJ freeze plugs fit perfectly as well. Came highly recommended and I know why!

Now we just need to finish with a CRC waterways scrub down before we send it to the machine shop! Stay tuned for more updates, thanks everyone 💜

The KADET is in PRIMER!!
This is a crucial part in the block prep process that’s meant to treat the block for future rust prevention.
My personal favorite product is VHT’s High Heat primer for metals. This bad boy resists temps up to 2,000 degrees!!
Found in almost any Advanced or Autozone and even online at AMAZON!

Watch as Steve from BBF sweats the KA Block, critical process used to purify the block of oils and other impurity.
Also sprayed down the block with Brake Cleaner to BLAST away loose debris.

Phew… what a week it has been and will be. Just about home with the KA24DE after getting it cleaned.

Blocks going home to get sweated and paint. New plugs and re-install the oil squirters, epoxy and it’ll be ready for reassembly!!

Got my FSM in today and she’s THIIICCC!! Came WAAAAAY faster than I thought it would, so of course I started combing over this bad boy already.

Thinking of starting with the engine for my first real task.
