Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Auction! ❤️🚗 thanks to all of you, we were able to raise $8,000 in 15 MINUTES to aid those affected by the Spokane Complex Wildfires.

Some moments are so filled with chaos and fear that they follow you all your life. But sometimes the kindness of strangers can ease your way. That’s what happened to Spokane’s Mackenzie Lindquist after a firestorm claimed everything near Nine-Mile Falls.

“I had just picked my sister up from the hospital after she had brain surgery,” Mackenzie remembered. “We had just gotten home when I saw the smoke, but I told her it looked white, so we’d be ok. I was so wrong.”

The fire exploded.

“I could see the flames about five stories high. It covered the whole road,” Mackenzie said. “I could hear the wind, and it wasn’t a regular wind. It was fire wind. I helped my sister in the car and drove it. Her husband grabbed his car. We got the dogs and left.”

The fire took the house, the barn. It destroyed the fifth-wheel trailer Mackenzie and her brother lived in. And it took her car. She’d just received the title to the Nissan Murano in the mail.

Then she saw Cliff's Quality Auto upcoming auction and decided to look. She found another Nissan Murano and shared photos of the fire damage with one of our employees. But she had no idea what would happen when she returned to the auction on Sunday.

She watched the auctioneer repeatedly sell the same car to raise money for fire victims. That brought in about $8,000. When that was finished, workers brought in the Murano she wanted.

She'd already told Cliff she wanted to bid on it, but she never imagined the auctioneer would hand over the keys to her – a gift from Cliff's Quality Auto to help her make it through the tough times ahead.

“I will always be grateful,” she said. “Always. I didn’t have a whole lot of faith in humanity, but I sure do today.”
