Laminated VS Tempered glass?! Today you find out the difference.

Laminated glass is designed to crack but stay intact, offering safety by holding together. Tempered glass is strong but, when it finally breaks, it shatters into tiny pieces. Both serve different safety purposes in your vehicle.

Leaky glass reseal. Believe it or not but a leaking glass can cause alot of damage to internal computers putting a $1,000,000 machine out of service!

Did you know? πŸ€” Windshields on older vehicles like this 1980 Dodge truck were often noticeably thicker and heavier than many modern windshields. Manufacturing methods were different, and vehicle designers weren't as focused on reducing weight for fuel economy. While today's glass is engineered for strength, safety, and compatibility with advanced driver-assistance systems, these old-school windshields were built with simplicity and durability in mind.

This looks wrong... but it's actually a critical part of the repair. πŸ‘€

At first glance, it might seem like we're making the rock chip worse. In reality, some chips trap air inside the break, preventing the repair resin from reaching all of the damaged areas.

By carefully "popping" the impact point, we create a path for the resin to flow deeper into the crack and fully bond the damaged glass. This helps produce a stronger repair, improves clarity, and reduces the chances of the crack spreading later on.

Not every rock chip needs this step, but when it does, it's often the difference between a repair that lasts and one that fails. πŸ”§πŸͺŸ

Sometimes, making it look worse for a few seconds is exactly how you make it better for years. πŸ’―
