As most everyone knows by now, Lil Indy has opened its doors to RC racers for the final time. 13 years of memories that will last a lifetime made in that building.. memories that so many of us will carry with us. DOZENS of the best dirt oval rc racers in the country cut their teeth on that small patch of dirt in a discrete warehouse in Spartanburg, SC. Jim Pohlman said it best when he said Indy wasn’t the Taj Mahal, but it was Home. It was home to so many!
Congrats to the checkered flag series champions. The final and forever champions of Lil Indy RC Speedway:
Alan Hinchman - 17.5 Late Model
Bobby Bowe- 6 Second Breakout
Matt Rodgers- 17.5 Sprint
Jamie Henson- Traxxas Street Stock
I’d like to personally thank Bobby for everything he has done for me, and for this entire community. He’s been a father figure to me these last 7 or 8 years.. and I wouldn’t give those years back for anything. My first 17.5 late model ride was a car that he provided, worked on, and paid for, because for some reason he saw something in me. (I got no talent so still not sure what he saw) He did this for so many people.. just to give them a chance to race what they wanted to race. If there was a new class being started, Bobby bought 2 or 3 cars himself to grow the class.
No doubt that dirt oval would’ve never risen to the level it has in our area without Bobby.
See y’all at a track somewhere!
