The Village of Sparta will temporarily close the Balyeat Field parking lot, located across from 175 Olmstead Street, on Monday, July 27, 2026, for pavement marking.
All vehicles must be removed from the parking lot before work begins Monday morning. The lot will reopen once the pavement marking is complete and the paint has dried.
The Union Street parking lot will remain open.
The work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions are unsuitable.

Please see updated post on Parking Lot Maintenance Postponed. Both parking lots will remain open, and vehicles do not need to be removed. The work will be rescheduled for a later date. The Village will issue an updated notice once the new dates have been confirmed.

Parking Lot Closures

Sparta, MI – The Village of Sparta will temporarily close two public parking lots on Wednesday, July 22, and Thursday, July 23, 2026, for pavement maintenance.
The contractor will complete crack sealing, sealcoating, and pavement marking at the following locations:
• Balyeat Field parking lot, located across from 175 Olmstead Street
• Union Street parking lot, located between Union and Washington streets, behind 134–156 E. Division Street
All vehicles must be removed from both parking lots before work begins Wednesday morning. The lots will remain closed throughout the work and curing period and are expected to reopen Friday, July 24.
The schedule is weather-dependent and may be adjusted if conditions are unsuitable. The Village appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while these improvements are completed.
