What they don’t tell you about PPF…

Almost every paint protection film can look good the day it’s installed. The difference shows up years later.

Film quality matters. Installer quality matters just as much. And despite what the marketing says, “anti-yellowing” doesn’t mean a film will remain chemically identical forever — quality films simply resist discoloration and aging far better than inferior ones.

The biggest mistake we see? Shopping for PPF based on price alone.You’re not just buying a sheet of clear film. You’re paying for the material, preparation, coverage, installation technique, finishing, warranty — and ultimately how your vehicle looks years from now.

PPF is one of those services where the differences aren’t always obvious on Day 1.

Getting it done tomorrow doesn’t always mean getting it done right.

Sitting down with Greg from The Detail Doctor talking about something we’ve unfortunately seen several times recently — four vehicles we’ve had to redo from the same local shop.

One of these clients was actually scheduled with XP originally. Another shop could get them in the very next day, so they canceled their appointment with us and went there instead.

Unfortunately, the installation didn’t go as planned.

When they came back to us, there was no “we told you so.” We did what we do — fixed the work, took care of the client, and made sure they left with the experience they should’ve had the first time.

There’s always going to be someone cheaper. Someone faster. Someone who can get you in tomorrow.

Sometimes there’s a reason.

Choose the shop, not the availability.

Everything we’ve built at XP comes back to three things:

1️⃣ Top-notch customer service.
2️⃣ Quality materials.
3️⃣ Flawless installations.

You can’t be great at just one or two.

The best film in the world doesn’t matter if it’s installed poorly. A flawless install doesn’t make up for bad customer service. And great service can’t compensate for cheap materials.

Do all three consistently, and everything else follows.

That’s the standard at XP.

This industry can be more cutthroat than most people realize. The Detail Doctor brought attention to something every shop owner eventually learns: competition will test your character. You can chase the next dollar at any cost, or you can build something that lasts—with integrity, respect, and good business practices. We know which side we want XP to be on. 🤝

The best doesn’t have to be the most expensive.

We sat down with Greg from The Detail Doctor and got into a great conversation about pricing, quality, and where XP actually falls compared to other shops.

There are a TON of shops out there, and when you actually compare pricing, ours usually falls somewhere right in the middle.

You might expect the highest-rated and most-reviewed shop in Pennsylvania to also be the most expensive — but that’s never been how we’ve positioned XP.

Our goal is to be the best value in the state.

We work hard to keep our pricing competitive without sacrificing the materials, installation quality, service, or attention to detail that got us to 1,600+ reviews while maintaining a 5.0 rating.

We’re not trying to be the cheapest shop.

We’re trying to give you the most for your money.

This is what a closer looks like. 😂👏

We bought a set of badges for a McLaren 750S from O'Gara in Beverly Hills one time. That was it.

Afterward, I opted out of all their marketing. No emails. No texts. Nothing.

So what does their Parts Manager, Wally Mena, do?

He sends us a care package in the mail. 😂

That’s how you separate yourself from everyone else.

Wally could’ve taken the one sale, moved on, and forgotten about us. Instead, he found another way to stay in front of a customer, provide a great experience, and make sure we remembered exactly who he was.

If you’re in sales and you’re not making sales, ask yourself how hard you’re actually trying to earn them.

There are levels to this game.

Wally is a PRO. 🤝

Got to hang out with The Detail Doctor while he was doing his thing on the track at the Track_Social weekend! 🏁

Amazing people, new friendships, and plenty of great conversations about PPF, the industry, and everything in between.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without giving Greg something to put to the test. 👀 We dropped off a box of ClearPro PPF, a film we’ve been using in our shop and have been seriously impressed with, to see how it stacks up against the rest.

Now it’s in his hands. 😎
