Present day owner since 1999, Dave Deerson is neither the "T" nor the "Z" of T and Z Auto but is continuing the role of local auto repair shop that original owner Bob Toreky started in 1971. Starting out in professional Auto service over 37 years ago as a GM dealer master tech then taking over the helm at T and Z in 1999. Beginning with GM production cars, early Mazda RX7s,it was the early days of Spec Miata that began the attachment to the Miata/MX5 platform. With many years building,racing,maintaining then Dave has become the "go to' source for diagnostics,maintenance,repair,fabrication and restoration of all generations of the MIata.

New car, new color, new adventures await!!! Finally have my new car ready to shake down and start enjoying! After building cars the last few years for others, it's nice to have a minty fresh car for myself. since this might be my last NB for myself( next is most likely an NA for Vintage Racing)I wanted this car to be special. Every part is either new, repainted,plated,powdercoated, or AquaBlasted. The Toyota VooDoo Blue is a nice change after many years of white. Now to find time between baseball tournaments to get some track time!

With the engine on the front subframe, the front and rear suspensions can be put in place for the body to be lowered on to them. Then the rest of the underbody components can be added to cross more items off the "To Do" list!

Let's skip to where I'm at today....... Never realized that I didn't take any pics of the cage build, but it really was the same as the last 4 or 5 cars that I have built. I have templates,jigs and a set recipe(specs for cuts and bends) so that every car is consistent. On to painting the chassis,underside of hood/trunk and interior parts a shade of gray that I came up with that I feel is just perfect. More to come......

Well, on to another Spec Miata build. Only this time, this one is MINE! Started with a "99 tub I got for free as it needed a driver's side quarter panel from a mishap at NJMP. So stripped of all undercoat/seam sealer, floor dropped the build can begin.....

Cam cover, water pump inlet, thermostat neck/outlet got the V***r Hone treatment to give that minty-fresh look!
