That simply means your payoff is higher than what the vehicle is currently worth. It happens more often than people think.

The first step isn't forcing a new deal. It's knowing the numbers: your current payoff, a realistic trade value, and what options are actually available from there.

Sometimes moving forward makes sense. Sometimes waiting and reducing the balance is the better move.

Online tools are useful starting points, but the real number can move based on condition, mileage, market demand, tires, interior wear, history, and what it may cost to get the vehicle ready for resale.

And the other number matters just as much: what you still owe.

That's why two people with a similar credit score can still have very different options.

The end of an era…

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to help Bart drive home in this brand-new GLI with a 6-speed manual.

While getting everything ready, I learned something I didn’t know—this is the final model year Volkswagen will offer a manual transmission. That makes the GLI the last new Volkswagen you can buy with three pedals.

For those of us who appreciate the connection and involvement of driving a manual, it’s the end of a chapter.

Congratulations again, Bart! Thank you for trusting me to help you find the right car. I hope you enjoy every shift.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of my customers, and I think it’s time to get back to it.

Congrats to Robert on the new Jetta!

He came in after doing his homework with a goal: upgrade from his 2009 Accent without blowing the budget.

He’d worked hard to get his credit back on track, and because of that, we were able to get him into a brand-new Jetta while staying under the number he wanted.

Seeing moments like this is one of the best parts of the job.
