Bee Balm - also goes by bergamot, horsemint, oswego tea. This little beauty is a favorite for honey bees, mason bees (navtive non stining bee) and bummble bees. They are also quently visited by other pollinators. Their leaves have a minty smell and are easy to care for as they are drought tolerant - once established. There is so much more to learn about bee balm check out the wiki link below!

Monarda is a genus of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. The genus is endemic to North America. Common names include bergamot, bee balm, horsemint, and oswego tea, the first being inspired by the fragrance of the leaves, which is reminiscent of bergamot orange (Citrus bergamia).

The count down has begun to our 10 year celebration! We have some really awesome prizes that overnight guests can win - at check-in!!! We'll being doing shout-outs for all of our amazing neighbors who are participating. Stay tuned! (We have partial hook-up sites, and primitive tent sites still available)

First up Kitchen 527 () has graciously given us 10 $10 off coupons! If you've never been - you are missing out! They have a fantastic beer and coctail menu, and have happy hour throughout the summer! The cajun catfish and 1/2 chicken are some of our favorites!

We had the pleasure of camping out last night. The girls wanted to stay in a cabin for the first weekend of summer! So fun!
We spotted a robin with 4 or 5 worms in its mouth, and a luna moth after it emerged!

Did you know all of our accomodations are dog friendly, are right on the Kal-Haven Trail, have their own firepit and grill and most have AC (the glamping tents and skoolie are the only ones that don't)

We are big fans of native plants and are working hard to create a Michigan Native prairie thats comfortable and welcoming. We love the idea so much we want to share it with our guests! So book a stay in any of our accommodations and you'll see a seed bomb packet! We'll have them for sale in our store as well!

You can take them home and create your own wildflower area or just thorw them in our prairie - nature always finds a way ;)

We will be featuring these flowers throughout the summer in our Wildflower of the Week series! The first in our series is pictured below, can you guess what it is? - come back next week and learn more about it

Mildred the mama mallard was being a good mom and didn't get very close, we had to take pictures and zoom in.
