So you go into a shop for a basic oil change because it’s cheaper; how do you know they won’t try to sell you something you don’t need? Well, they sent me photos saying my brakes are bad. Did they actually pull the wheels off and check the pads? No, they did not!
I had a customer come to me after getting an oil change, and they sent her photos saying she needed brakes on the front and rear. I went out to her location, inspected them before replacing them, and found that the brakes were fine. I called the customer over and showed her the pads in my hands, and her comment was that they dont look bad. I said, 'No, your brakes are just fine.' She then said, 'Oh my god, thank you for being honest and not just replacing them; I would never have known!'
Upon further inspection, I found that the sway bar links were very loose, and one strut on the passenger side was leaking. Do you think that repair shop told this customer that? So here’s the question for everyone: do you really trust where you’re taking your vehicles?
That’s not the first time I’ve had this happen. Also, where you’re taking your vehicles, how do you know they’re actually replacing that part, and how do you know the quality of the part? I will say that I don’t put parts on that I wouldn’t put on my own vehicles; I use only quality parts. Here’s what I get told all the time: 'That costs more money.' Yes, but do you want to pay to have someone replace it once, or do you want to pay someone to replace it multiple times in a shorter timeframe?
