With its no-nonsense styling and potent 383 V8, the Road Runner embodied the spirit of blue-collar muscle. Plymouth expected to sell only a few thousand, but nearly 45,000 were sold in its first year, cementing its place as one of the greatest success stories of the muscle car era.
