“CARAWAY CROWN” CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT WRAPS UP 49
YEARS OF RACING FOR THE HACKETT FAMILY
(Sophia, NC): So, the saying goes, “All Good Things Must End” did not consider how Darren Hackett and “Team Caraway” plan to “Go Out With A Bang” on Saturday October 17th.
While Mother Nature put a damper on the October 10th races scheduled at Caraway Speedway, she just added some spice and extra racing to “Championship Night” at the .455 mile track near Asheboro. The rainout will see all those events combined with the season, and Darren Hacketts career, ending event.
Headlining the night is the “Caraway Crown 125” for the tracks featured Limited Late Model Division. The $10,000.00 to win event with a $26,550.00 total purse is one of the richest LLM events in the area and on top of the posted purse, Coy Beard has a shot at a $5,000.00 bonus if he can find his way to Caraway’s Victory Lane. Beard has won two of the five “Crown” events and has his sights set on claiming Hackett’s “Bonus.” There will be a strong field of drivers on hand to try to keep that from happening, including other 2026 Caraway winners like Dylan Ward, Thomas Bean and Camden Thomas. Ward leads Thomas in Limited Late Model season standings for the track and the NASCAR O’Reilly Weekly Racing series for Caraway.
The Chargers will run a special 75 lapper with a $2,000.00 winners share. Tyler Bush will put the final stamp on his Division Championship and try to be on top of the podium Saturday night. 2025 Champion, Matthew Smith, Brian Melville, Jr. Cody Griffin and Richard Shoffner will defend their top five rankings this week.
Brandon Crotts and Jason Gallimore have clinched the Rear Wheel Drive and Front Wheel Drive titles in the Mini Stock Division and they will decide the overall Championship for the Division this week. Cody Gwynn, Matt Alley and Mason Troxler round out the top five in standings.
David Creed has clinched the NASCAR O’Reilly Weekly Racing Series title for the 602 Modifieds over Dustin Coonfield. It marks Creed’s first Championship.
The “Keith Clapp Memorial” 36 lapper for the UCARS will settle the title run between Tito Clapp and Jimmy Cooper. Clapp has led the standing for most of the season but Cooper’s late season charge has him within twenty points of Clapp. Cooper has clinched the Division 5 title in NASCAR’s O’Reilly Racing Series for the Southeast Region and wound up number two in National Standings. As much as $5,000.00 is up for grabs in the “Keith Clapp Memorial” for the UCARS.
Corey Wyatt has clinched the title in the Crown Vic Division over Brandon Mock. Christian Morris trails Mock by only four points and has a shot at the number two spot. Bubba Cline and TJ Gibson round out the top five.
Three Drivers have a shot a $500.00 bonus in the Bowman Gray Challenge for the Sportsman and Street Stock cars. Riley Neal, Christian Joyce and Nate Gregg have each won one of the four scheduled races. If either of the th*****me wins Saturday Night. He will collect the bonus.
The INEX Legends and Bandoleros along with the Virginia Vintage Racing Series will also be on hand to wrap up the final Caraway Speedway event for the Hackett Family.
The plate will be full this Saturday night. Grandstand gates open at 3:00 PM. Racing gets under way at 5:00 PM with UCAR Heat Races followed by features for the Bandoleros, Virginia Vintage, Legends, Crown Vics, 602 Modifieds, Chargers, Limited Late Models, Bowman Gray Challenge, the UCAR feature and Mini Stocks.
