(Sophia, NC): The headline says a lot but unpacking everything that went on during Caraway Speedway’s 61st Anniversary Night might take a while to unpack.
In pre-race ceremonies, Caraway Speedway inducted seven new members into the Speedway’s “Wall of Fame”. New Members include Darren and Dee Hackett, “Horseshoe” Gallimore, David Gaines, Tony Hulin, Craig Motsinger and Randy Myers.
In the featured 61 lapper for the Chargers, Isaac Harris put on old fashioned whooping on the field Harris finished 2.176 seconds ahead of Daniel Schadt who had one of his best runs of the 2026 season. Defending Charger Champion, Matthew Smith finished third ahead of Blake Shupe and Tyler Bush in fifth. Jeffrey Beck was sixth ahead of Mitch Gibson, Derek Kearns, Brian Melville, Jr., Odell Graham, Ben Banker, Tommy Raino, Caleb Johnson and Brian Rose.
Eric Zeh and Jacob Creed split the two twenty lap features for the 602 Modifieds. Zeh took the win in the first race over fast qualifier, Jody Utt, Dustin Coonfield, Jacob Creed, Brody Measmer, David Creed, Cory Luetjen and Cole Mizio.
In race two, Jacob Creed took the win over Zeh, David Creed, Utt, Coonfield, Luetjen, Mizo and Measmer.
Riley Neal took the measure of the field in the first of four special races for the drivers form Bowman Gray Stadiums Sportsman and Street Stock divisions. Neal jumped to a quick lead over fast qualifier Michael Adams and never looked back in the 35 lapper. Brad Lewis was third with Christian Joyce in fourth. Joyce was the highest finishing Street Stock. Mitch Gales finished fifth with Victor Flores, Marc Davis, Chris Taylor and Chris Massey rounding out the field.
Jason Gallimore and Tommy Raino shared the overall wins in the two Mini Stock features with Gallimore taking first overall in his FWD ride. Brandon Crotts was second overall and first of the RWD cars. Tommy Raino was third with Carter Benson and Cody Gwynn rounding out the top five. Corbin Payne was sixth ahead of Colton Brown, Blaze Sanders, Chris Pueschel, Keegan Lamotte, AJ Sanders and Dean Butrum.
In race two, Raino inherited the overall win over Crotts. Gallimore wound up third with AJ Sanders, Brown, Benson, Blaze Sanders and Luke Smith. Pueschel completed the rundown.
Skyler Hughes and Jimmy Cooper split “twin” 10 lappers for the UCAR division. Hughes bested Justin Smith and Tito Clapp for the win with Mason Vance and Jake Cline rounding out the top five. Jason Richmond was sixth ahead of Jimmy Cooper, Brayden Cline, Jamie Vance, Tony Orice, David Wdwards and Robbie Welch. Austin Cooper, Kenny Bowman, Cody Foland and JJ Foland completed the rundown.
In race two, Cooper returned to his winning ways ahead of Hughes, Jamie Vance, Richmond, Mason Vance, Clapp, Smith, Price, Jake Cline, Brayden Cline, Bowman and Edwards. Welch, Cody Foland, Austin Cooper and JJ Foland rounded out the field.
Corey Wyatt edged Christian Morris for the Crown Vic win with “Bubba” Cline, Travis Luejten and Gage Dillard rounding out the top five.
Kyle Siler took the win in the 25 lapper for the Allison Legacy Series traveling tour. Siler bested Weston Freeman for the win ahead of Bobby Mares, Eric Miller, Luke Fisher and Caliph Gibson.
Lucas McFall edged Charlie Evans for the win in the INEX Bandoleros. The four car draft at the finish saw Ethan Greenley and Stevie Warren in the top four. Carter Kennedy and Isabella Chriscoe wrap up the rundown.
Samuel Macedo took the measure of the fourteen car INEX Legends field. Jaxon Burnette, Cal Anderson, Collin Vanasse and Thomas Everson made up the top five. Aaron Crumpler was sixth ahead of Jayben Clennerster, Tony Arnold, David Hall, Michael Vanhouten, Gideon Sousley, Clayton Austin, Devin Versteegen and Scotty Benford.
Racing returns to the .455 mile Caraway Speedway on September 12th with our “Night of Remembrance” honoring the memory of the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.Racing on that night features the SMART Modified Tours “Robert Jeffreys Memorial” that honors the winner of the first S.M.A.R.T. Modified Tour, Robert Jeffreys. Also, on tap that night are races for the Carolina Crate Modified Tour’s 602 Modifieds, Chargers, Mini Stocks, UCARS, Crown Vics, Legends, Bandoleros and the second of four “Bowman Gray Challenge” events.
The Randleman High School Marching Tigers and the Randolph County Honor Guard will featured during the “9/11 Tribute” on September 12th. You don’t want to miss this moving tribute and performance plus all the great racing.
