Due to the pending inclement weather moving into our area over the next few days, we want to take a moment and share some important information and phone numbers with you all.
First and foremost, if you lose electricity, you will need to contact your power company to report it. Calling 9-1-1 does not speed up the reporting process because they require information from your account to complete the outage report. Numbers for the power companies covering our area are:
KU: 800-981-0600 or by visiting:
https://lge-ku.com/outages
SKRECC: 800-264-5112 or by visiting:
https://nisc.skrecc.com/maps/OutageWebMap
If your electricity goes out and you have a medical necessity such as oxygen or home dialysis, call 9-1-1 and we will get help to you as quickly as possible. Be prepared to be transported to the hospital because EMS does not carry extra o2 bottles that they can leave at your residence. If at all possible, make necessary arrangements with your medical supplier to have extra bottles on hand because response time will be delayed due to weather.
Next, if you have a non-injury accident while traveling and there is no damage to anything other than your vehicle, you can file an individual accident report by going to https://kentuckystatepolice.org/civilian-collision-reports/ and follow the prompts to make your report.
We strongly encourage you to do the above listed option to file a report for a non-injury accident. This will keep responders free for higher severity calls.
If you need a wrecker to pull you out of the ditch, google Somerset KY wreckers and there is several local wreckers there that can help you. We don't know what any of them charges or who is the cheapest. You will need to work that out with them at the time of the call.
If you get stuck and have to leave your vehicle over night, please try to move it as far off the roadway as possible so that snow plows can work around it, then call us at 606-679-3200 and give us your location, contact information, vehicle description, and license plate number. This will help us reduce having to send responders out to abandoned vehicle reports.
Finally, we don't know the status of any roadways or when the snow plows will get your road so please don't tie up emergency 9-1-1 lines asking. Instead go to https://goky.ky.gov/ to check those roadway conditions.
Please bear with us as we try to get help to everyone as quickly as we can.
Stay safe Pulaski County.
