Missing Clovis Man Found Dead After Dirt Bike Crash in Vacant Lot
Clovis, New Mexico (WIHINMTX)— A local man who was reported missing by his family early Friday morning was found dead hours later following a single-vehicle dirt bike crash in Clovis, authorities said.
Family members first contacted the Clovis Police Department around 12:15 a.m. on Friday, August 14, after 31-year-old Raul Jimenez failed to return home. According to police, Jimenez had left the previous afternoon to ride his dirt bike. His family last had contact with him around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Officers launched a search across the city overnight but were initially unable to locate him.
The situation took a tragic turn shortly after 6:30 a.m. when dispatch received a 911 call reporting an unconscious man lying in a vacant lot near the intersection of 8th Street and Ash Street. The caller noted that the man was wearing a helmet, was unresponsive, and had a motorcycle nearby.
First responders from the Clovis Police Department and Clovis Fire Department EMS arrived on the scene and confirmed the man was deceased. Authorities subsequently identified him as Jimenez.
Initial findings indicate that no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident.
The Clovis Police Department Major Crash Team was activated and has taken over the investigation to determine the official cause of the crash.
