Our beautiful God daughter is having a boy! 🍼

Had we thought of it sooner, we would have done a burn out with blue under the tire since we had her gender reveal at the tire shop. 🤣

But this was great. We're so excited for our Jewel and Chestin. Now, we get to start buying lil boy stuff. 💙💙💙

Congrats Juju & Chestin. We love y'all.

🍖 Bubby's BBQ

Not me. Not the tire shop. Not our marriage. Just a cow trough & jalapeno cream corn. 🤣

Honestly... I get it. 😂 🙄

🔥 UPDATE: We aren't about to give that fire a second chance.

After someone intentionally set a fire between our shop and our neighbor's garage yesterday, (and a few other small fires in town) we asked our friend Corbin Sherrell to come back up today... this time armed with a chainsaw instead of a mop bucket. 🌿🪚

He's helping us clear out all that overgrown brush so there's a lot less fuel if anything like this ever happens again.

Yesterday he grabbed a mop bucket and helped save the day. Today he's making sure we're even safer tomorrow.

We're incredibly thankful for good neighbors, good friends, and a community that looks out for each other. ❤️

Thanks again, Corbin. And yes, I'll ease up on the jokes about your "girly drinks." 🍹😂

So you may have seen the video I filmed earlier today on The Birdsong Bar & Patio page… but here’s the part of the story you may not know.

Smithville Tire closes at 6pm, but we stayed late tonight finishing up a few things and were finally getting ready to head home around 8pm.

A customer pulled up and told Coop there was smoke coming from behind our shop! 😶‍🌫️

Someone had set a fire between our building and the garage of the house directly behind us. There’s a LOT of greenery back there, so we were incredibly lucky it hadn’t spread.

About that time, our friend Corbin Sherrell pulled up. Coop told him there was a fire, and Corbin took off to Birdsong, grabbed a mop bucket full of water, and put it out. 😂 He followed that up with the water hose and soaked the entire area because it was still smoldering.

While we were dealing with that, I noticed one of the Birdsong employees behind the bar trying to stretch a water hose toward the dumpster.

Then I heard someone yell, “FIRE!” 🔥

I ran next door… and found what you see in this video.

Tonight could have ended very differently.

I’m thankful for the customer who took the time to stop and warn us.

I’m thankful for Corbin and his trusty mop bucket. And after tonight, I guess I’ll stop picking on him about his girly drinks. 😂🍹 You earned a pass, sir.

I’m thankful for the Birdsong staff and customers who jumped in and helped put out the fire behind the bar.

I'm thankful for the volunteer fire department who are just amazing in this town.

And I’m REALLY thankful that for whatever reason, we stayed at the shop 2 hours after closing tonight.

Had we left at 6 or even 7 like we normally do, that little fire behind our building could have grown unnoticed. With all the greenery back there, it could have taken our shop, the garage, the lady’s home behind us… who knows how far it could have gone.

Oh and all that's getting cut down tomorrow! 🌳

I’ve heard the person responsible was caught, and I’ll definitely sleep a little easier tonight knowing that. 🚓👮‍♂️

But more than anything, tonight reminded me just how thankful I am for this community. 🫶

People noticed something was wrong and stopped. People ran for water. People grabbed buckets and hoses and fire extinguishers. Nobody stood around waiting for someone else to handle it. They just stepped up and helped.

That’s Smithville. ❤️

A community full of people who look out for one another when it matters.

I love it here. I love Smithville. 🧡🖤
