To our great Slaton family, we’d like to say THANK YOU for almost 39 years at Accent!
Tom was in a car accident that wrecked his back and he hasn’t been able to work like we are used to doing. We are also almost 65. Though we had not planned to stop working for a few more years, life happened and we had to sell for health reasons.
We can never express how much our customers and friends have come to mean to us. We were welcomed into the community from day one!
We have appreciated our son Cal and his family coming to be our business partner. Without him, we couldn’t have stayed this long!
Also, what a great partnership we had with Slaton Gas and Equipment. Don and Stanley Heinrich, Kyle and Dalyn, have faithfully serviced our little gas station!
The new owners are 3 brothers who are very highly respected. The lottery district manager, our grocery rep, our Independent Buyers Coop, and many others who have worked with them for quite some time have sung their praises! We did our research!
We wanted a good fit for Accent and Slaton.
They have stores in the Austin and DFW areas as well as Borger. They want to keep our employees, they want to continue to raise money for our Meals on Wheels and they want to try to keep that small town feel!
So you’ll still see familiar faces at the store much like Happy State Bank with its different owners over the years!
Tom is fully retired and has to have a back treatment in January that will keep him down for at least 6 weeks., but Cal and I will still be working for them til they get settled!
People say it just won’t be the same, but I believe it just might be better! They are going to change a few things. Geez, we still push buttons on old fashioned cash registers and have price stickers on everything!
So, if you hear all the crazy rumors floating around, you now have the real story! We are retiring for health reasons.
Thank you all again and we love and appreciate you! This is our home.
