Buying a car online means you never get to look underneath it.

This Audi came in for a pre-purchase inspection before the sale was final. It went up on the lift and got the look a listing can't give you: the underside, what's worn, what's seeping, what's been fixed and what hasn't.

The buyer got that list before they bought the car.

He's been in the car business most of his life, in sales, service and finance. These days running the shop keeps him busy, so you might not see much of him when you come in.

When he's not here, he's camping, riding his motorcycle, or mowing his lawn in perfectly straight lines.

Nate goes through the whole interior with an air gun before he vacuums anything.

Between the seats, under the cushions, along the dash and down into the footwells. Compressed air pushes out the stuff that sits down in the seams, where a vacuum head can't reach. Then it gets picked up.

If your interior is due, ask about a detail next time your car is in for service.

Cold weather doesn't usually break anything new. It finds what was already on its way out.

A battery that started fine all summer can struggle once the mornings get cold. Tires lose pressure as the temperature drops. Wiper blades that dried out in the sun can stop clearing the glass.

We check tires, the battery, coolant, wipers, washer fluid, belts, hoses and the heat, and tell you what we find.

An inspection is how you find out.

This Traverse came in with a cooling fan that kept running after the engine was shut off.

That fan pulls air through the radiator when the engine runs hot. The thermostat controls when coolant flows to the radiator, and the coolant temperature sensor tells the engine how hot it's running. When either one isn't working right, the fan can get the wrong message.

We replaced both.

A fan that runs with the key off is easy to miss. It's running off the battery the whole time.
