Think about everywhere your car takes you in a week.

School drop-off.
The grocery store.
A doctor’s appointment.
Childcare.
Home.

Most of us don’t think twice about it. We grab our keys and go. But when your vehicle isn’t reliable, all of those everyday connections become harder.

That’s why we believe reliable transportation is about so much more than getting from Point A to Point B.
It helps keep life connected. 🚗❤️

A car problem rarely stays a car problem.

When you depend on your vehicle to get to work, a breakdown can mean missed shifts, lost income, and falling behind on bills that were already hard to cover. That’s why reliable transportation matters.

At Shift Garage, we’re not just helping fix cars. We’re helping people stay connected to their jobs, their income, and the opportunity to keep moving forward. 🚗

You can't always see what someone is going through.

Sometimes a person pulls into Shift Garage and, from the outside, you might wonder:
“Do they really need our help?”

But a car doesn't tell someone's whole story.
That's why our ministry starts by listening—understanding what's happening, what the vehicle means to that person's situation, and how getting it repaired could help.

Because everyone's story is different.
And everyone deserves to be treated with dignity before assumptions are made. ❤️

You don't get to redo every moment.
We have seen it firsthand.

A repaired vehicle has meant someone could pursue a better job. Be there for their children. Or travel out of town to say goodbye to someone they love.

To us, it might look like another repair.
To the person getting their keys back, it can mean so much more.

A broken-down car can cost a lot more than the repair bill.

Missed shifts. Lost income. Being late to work. Even getting passed over for opportunities because you can't always count on getting there.
For someone already living paycheck to paycheck, one car problem can quickly become a much bigger problem.
That's why affordable and timely repairs matter.

We don't just want to fix the car. We want to help stop the ripple effect. 🚗❤️

Every mission has a beginning. Ours was a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis. 🚗

One broken car had brought a family's life to a stop.
About $200 in parts got them moving again.
And that experience helped start something much bigger.

All these years later, Shift Garage helps hundreds of people each year—but Joe still remembers that first car.

Reliable transportation gives you something we don't always think about:

Certainty.

Certainty that you can get to work tomorrow.
That you can show up for your family.
That you can get where you need to go when it matters.
For someone already facing financial uncertainty, having one less thing to worry about can make a huge difference.

That's what your support of Shift Garage helps provide. ❤️🚗

Not every used car is created equal.

When we choose vehicles for Upshift, we're not chasing what's popular. We're looking for what's proven to be reliable.

Years of repairing vehicles have taught us what stands the test of time, and that's what we want for our clients.

A car wasn't the finish line. It was the starting point.

Years ago, we helped a single mom who was leaving an abusive relationship. She told us that if she had reliable transportation, she could work more hours, find better childcare, save money, and build a new life for her family.

That's exactly what she did.

Today, her story is a reminder that reliable transportation doesn't just change how someone gets around—it can change the direction of their life. ❤️🚗

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
Labor Day reminds us why our mission matters.

A job can change a family's future—but only if they can get there.
Thank you to everyone who volunteers, donates, and supports Shift Garage so more people can get to work with confidence.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

Joe here, i'm priming this room today at our new Sioux Falls location (more on that soon). It might not look like much yet but this is the waiting room for our clients. This room is where a lot of crucial conversations will happen. Many of the people that will be waiting in this room will be at a crossroads in their life. About day to day needs yes, but also about family and faith. SHIFT will be fixing an important daily need in their lives and so that helps paint Christianity in a good light but that's just the beginning. Many of the really important conversations will happen in this room, life change will happen here!
There are not a lot of "socially distanced" ways to participate with SHIFT, but I want to offer you one today.
Before I paint this room, I would love to write a scripture verse that you think would be meaningful to the Christian men and women that will be praying and doing ministry in this room or choose a scripture that you think applies to the people we will be serving. Just comment below and I will write your verse on the wall. Please remember that your verse is on this wall and remember to keep these people and our ministry in prayer!

Great news everyone! We have a shop space that we're renting in partnership with Saving Grace Auto in Tea.
Now, while there are some toolboxes and tools in the shop, none of them are ours. We are looking for donations of tools/toolboxes and equipment. As a non-profit we can provide you with a tax receipt for your donation as well.
Please share this with anyone you think might be willing to donate these items. Thanks so much!
