Sandy Fire Details (As of May 20, 2026)
Location: Originated off Sandy Avenue in the hills above Simi Valley on Monday morning.
Size: Approximately 1,700 acres.
Containment: 15% - Firefighters made great progress overnight strengthening containment lines.
Impact: Extensive evacuation orders affect over 17,000 residents. Multiple road closures, including Bell Canyon Road and portions of Santa Susana Pass Road, remain in effect.
Status: While erratic winds continue to present significant challenges, fire crews are focusing on structure defense and strengthening existing containment lines with air and ground support.
