Big City Rod Run started with two old guys having many drinks wishing they had a cool hotrod show in our little town

The Original Big City Rod Run & Car Show is a two day rod-o-rama brought to you by the Highwaymen Norcal. About an hour from Nevada City, and 12 miles east of Downieville, this relaxing cruise through the scenic Tahoe National Forest over Highway 49, hugs the North Fork of the Yuba River and brings you to the town of Sierra City and the Big City Rod Run & Car Show. Come and enjoy the beauty of the high sierras and breathtaking scenery, combined with the small town hospitality of Sierra City.

BIG CITY ROD RUN RESURRECTED 2026
16 years ago my buddy and I were drinking adult beverages at the bar across the street whining about not being able to go to a car show with our hot rods and decided why not have one in Sierra City ….. on the very first show the friday evening meet and greet i received a phone call my first grandchild Lola Jane was about to be born so i left my hotrod buddy to see Lola birth
This year in honor of Lola we are bringing back this awsome show September 18 and 19th 2026
The rod run in 2026 is all about bringing anything with a motor
You can bring your lawn mower as long as you drive it
Meet and greet on friday afternoon at Sorrocos
Saturday just park your ride anywhere downtown Sierra City
No registration needed
No show fee to pay
Nothing special
just clean air and beautiful areal along the north fork of the yuba river and the base of the sierra buttes
