If you are familiar with the history of Smith Bros, you understand the importance of “The Bench”. It was more than just a place to sit, many people have gathered on the bench for friendship, fun times, and to solve the problems of the world. We have been told many times that it reminds people of Mayberry. “The Bench” even held the family at the cemetery when our beloved Dad, Lindy, passed away. The original bench (painted a few times through the years), shown in the first picture was removed from its spot many years ago and is lovingly kept by a family member.
Although Chet and Lindy were the owners, they had another brother, Kenny, who also spent much time and many years working at Smith Bros. So naturally when we decided it was time for another bench, we turned to Kenny’s son, Lynn, to build the replica of the original bench.
Thank you Lynn for recreating this piece of our history for us!

Just another hot Wednesday afternoon on I-83. Thanks to our local volunteer firefighters at Stations 59, 61 and 63
