🚒 DID YOU KNOW? Meet the Little Fire Truck in Our Showroom
That little red fire truck that everyone loves to climb into for pictures has a pretty incredible story. 🇯🇵
Meet our 1992 Subaru Sambar, a tiny Japanese kei truck that spent its early life serving as a fire truck in Japan.
Look closely and you can still see its Japanese fire-department markings, emergency equipment, siren, hose fittings and firefighting gear. The lettering on the door identifies it with the Katagami City Fire Brigade, Showa 3rd Division.
The Subaru Sambar was designed as a compact, practical vehicle for Japan. First introduced in 1961, the Sambar became one of Japan’s early kei trucks — small vehicles built to meet Japan’s unique size and engine regulations.
And that’s what makes this little truck so fascinating: it may be tiny, but it was built to do a big job. 🚒
Today, its job is a little different. ❤️
Instead of responding to emergencies, our Sambar spends its days in the Shingle Springs Subaru showroom making people smile. We’ve watched countless kids, families and four-legged friends climb aboard and pose for photos.
